fall outfit ideas: alternatives to sweatshirts and jeans

It’s been pretty cold lately. And with the cold, we’re inclined to throw on sweats and a sweatshirt – completely sacrificing our fashion sense to keep warm and stay comfy… But what if I told you that there are a ton of super easy and adorable alternatives to your typical lazy-day outfit???

Sooooo leather jackets are a total necessity once it starts cooling down. I wear them maybe a little too much (so you can expect to see a bunch more outfits styling them). Throw on a leather jacket and boyfriend jeans for an automatically chic, sophisticated, and timeless look.

This outfit isn’t as warm as the others, but perfect if you live somewhere that hasn’t gotten TOO cold yet (like California). If it’s colder where you live, you can totally layer up and wear a long-sleeve under or a cute coat over. I absolutely love this jacket – it gives off such a cool and urban feel. I paired it with these skinny jeans that I cut up (one of my favorite pairs) and these awesome Steve-Madden-esque’ flats.

I have recently re-kindled my love for turtle necks. But any huge sweater looks great tucked in slightly to some high-waisted pants! Plus you get the luxury of feeling like you’re wearing a blanket while looking super put together 🙂

fall outfit ideas: hats n sunglasses

Fall fashion is definitely one of my favorites. You can wear layers and layers – rock big jackets, beanies, and tights. But something that most forget about is the fact that sunglasses aren’t just for the summer, and can enhance any look! Accessorizing is the way to transform a simple, boring outfit into a more creative and stylish ensemble. I teamed up with Salt City Optics  and created looks around my two favorite winter hats and some cool shades for their Fall Fashion Challenge! Hope you can pull some inspiration from these looks, and try out some hat and sunglasses combos for yourself! Check out http://www.saltcityoptics.com/all/prescription-sunglasses.html for some SUPER CUTE sunnies 🙂

A felt hat is a staple piece for the fall and winter season, and can be found basically anywhere in almost any color! Paired with a simple pair of black sunnies makes for a super chic look (cat eyed ones would be perfect, I ordered a pair that are on their way in the mail as I type). I wanted to work with the trend of suede skirts, so I paired this one with a super cute striped top, tights (so I don’t freeze), and my Chelsea boots. I wear these sooooo often, they’re easily one of my favorite pairs of shoes.

I love beanies during the colder months, but this one is a lil different… it’s more of a turban than your typical beanie and it’s a plus that it’s in my favorite shade of pink 🙂 I absolutely love when I find pieces that no one else really wears, it adds a slight uniqueness to an outfit . I paired the turban with another set of black sunglasses and decided to create more of a grunge look. I threw on an oversized band tee, some burgundy pants, all-white converse, and A BEAUTIFUL HUGE THRIFTED JEAN JACKET. I found this beauty for only about $3… my jaw literally dropped when I pulled it out of the racks.
