that 70’s show

My momma always told me that trends from the past would come back…  I brought elements from the 70’s, and even a little bit from the 90’s/early 2000’s (refer to the turtle neck and mom jeans) into this ensemble.

Every girl needs a pair of great jeans to throw on that are an instant confidence-booster and make her feel like she can take on the world. And these are mine. They look so chic but laid-back all at once… plus, they have THE BEST FIT. Probably the most comfortable pair of jeans I own.

I decided to play up the hippy look by throwing on a bunch of layered necklaces and this stunning suede motorcycle jacket. And can’t forget these heeled booties to make my legs look a million miles longer than they really are! Hope you all enjoy this lil outfit of the day:)

fall outfit ideas: alternatives to sweatshirts and jeans

It’s been pretty cold lately. And with the cold, we’re inclined to throw on sweats and a sweatshirt – completely sacrificing our fashion sense to keep warm and stay comfy… But what if I told you that there are a ton of super easy and adorable alternatives to your typical lazy-day outfit???

Sooooo leather jackets are a total necessity once it starts cooling down. I wear them maybe a little too much (so you can expect to see a bunch more outfits styling them). Throw on a leather jacket and boyfriend jeans for an automatically chic, sophisticated, and timeless look.

This outfit isn’t as warm as the others, but perfect if you live somewhere that hasn’t gotten TOO cold yet (like California). If it’s colder where you live, you can totally layer up and wear a long-sleeve under or a cute coat over. I absolutely love this jacket – it gives off such a cool and urban feel. I paired it with these skinny jeans that I cut up (one of my favorite pairs) and these awesome Steve-Madden-esque’ flats.

I have recently re-kindled my love for turtle necks. But any huge sweater looks great tucked in slightly to some high-waisted pants! Plus you get the luxury of feeling like you’re wearing a blanket while looking super put together 🙂

fall outfit ideas: hats n sunglasses

Fall fashion is definitely one of my favorites. You can wear layers and layers – rock big jackets, beanies, and tights. But something that most forget about is the fact that sunglasses aren’t just for the summer, and can enhance any look! Accessorizing is the way to transform a simple, boring outfit into a more creative and stylish ensemble. I teamed up with Salt City Optics  and created looks around my two favorite winter hats and some cool shades for their Fall Fashion Challenge! Hope you can pull some inspiration from these looks, and try out some hat and sunglasses combos for yourself! Check out http://www.saltcityoptics.com/all/prescription-sunglasses.html for some SUPER CUTE sunnies 🙂

A felt hat is a staple piece for the fall and winter season, and can be found basically anywhere in almost any color! Paired with a simple pair of black sunnies makes for a super chic look (cat eyed ones would be perfect, I ordered a pair that are on their way in the mail as I type). I wanted to work with the trend of suede skirts, so I paired this one with a super cute striped top, tights (so I don’t freeze), and my Chelsea boots. I wear these sooooo often, they’re easily one of my favorite pairs of shoes.

I love beanies during the colder months, but this one is a lil different… it’s more of a turban than your typical beanie and it’s a plus that it’s in my favorite shade of pink 🙂 I absolutely love when I find pieces that no one else really wears, it adds a slight uniqueness to an outfit . I paired the turban with another set of black sunglasses and decided to create more of a grunge look. I threw on an oversized band tee, some burgundy pants, all-white converse, and A BEAUTIFUL HUGE THRIFTED JEAN JACKET. I found this beauty for only about $3… my jaw literally dropped when I pulled it out of the racks.

rodeo drive

My family and I spent our last day in Los Angeles (window) shopping around Rodeo Drive. I loved seeing all of the beautiful designs that lined the racks of Dolce and Gabbana and Chanel… It was a completely different scenery from the one that I’m used to; it was SO fascinating and inspiring. We found our niche in the sale room of Lucky Brand; I ended up buying three pairs of jeans for a total of around $60 and a bunch of men’s graphic tees for only $10 each!!! Yep, you did NOT read that wrong…. Lucky Brand jeans for THAT cheap. (Maybe I’ll film a SoCal haul soon???) Needless to say, we spent a few hours rummaging through the shelves of discounted jeans. The rest of our time was spent admiring the designer store fronts and luxurious cars that filled the streets. I decided to throw together this sophisticated looking ensemble, something that looks expensive but it was actually VERYYY inexpensive. Check out the details below 🙂

hollywood hills and the beach

Today was a great day. We were planning on hiking up to the Hollywood sign, but were unaware that it would take three hours… TOTALLY unprepared for such a long hike, we found a decent alternative. We came across a dog park with a great view of the prominent Hollywood sign and stayed to take a few (million) touristy pictures. Also (if you’ve never done it before), driving around in the Hollywood Hills and Beverly Hills is a surprisingly thrilling pastime! The homes are absolutely breathing and it was so much fun driving around the neighborhoods gawking in awe at the mansions. We did that for about an hour and then made our way to Venice Beach where we walked around looking at all the vendors and shops for a good couple of hours.

Southern California is filled with palm trees and graffiti. Both of which give me an odd sense of happiness and are things that I find an insane amount of beauty in. Vivid colors and words that most think of as hideous defacement, I see as art that gives places so much more character. There were so many views that I found absolutely captivating today and just HAD to capture on camera to share with you all:)

hip in huntington

Another day down south, and another blog post as promised 🙂 We got a pretty late start, so we had to scrap our plans for the day and save them for another time 😦 As we were driving around Anaheim, we decided to be spontaneous and head west to Huntington Beach. Good thing that I packed a swimsuit and was (sorta) dressed for the beach! This post is filled with photos from today, I couldn’t help but take A TON of pictures with this stunning beach as my background.

pretty in pastels

I love getting out of town and experiencing another city for a little while. You get to escape from reality and the same old routines, and explore some place else. Switch things up and do something completely different from your daily life. Through out this week, I’m staying in Los Angeles and I’ll be uploading little posts and outfits each day for you all to see!

We went down to San Diego for the day to look at universities and it was DEATHLY hot and humid. So I put together this cute ensemble using the least clothes possible to dress for the weather. I ALSO decided to switch it up a little and actually wear color… something that I usually only ever do through olive greens and burgundys. You guys proud of me??? I think these pastel colors look insanely chic. It was something that I threw together not thinking I would like at first, but I ended up falling in love with the look! Hope you all can get some inspiration and enjoy the abundance of posts to come this week 🙂

OOTW: fall’s in the air

I have some photos of outfits of the week to share with you all today! I had so much fun shooting these and hope you all enjoy them as well 🙂 The weather has been crazy here!!! It hit 108 last week and when I took these pictures, it began raining! Slowly but surely, it’s transitioning to fall- and my outfits must do the same. Lately, I’ve been living in neutral colors like the light pink below, olive green, burgundy, white, creme, and black, browns, and burnt oranges… not to mention my beloved jean pieces. I’ve also been super into necklaces. I wear them with almost every one of my outfits- as you can probably tell from the following…

This outfit is super comfy and laid-back (like this armchair), yet you still look extremely put together (unlike this armchair). The color of the top is so feminine- and so much more sophisticated than a shocking pink color. I weighed down the loose, unstructured shirt with two bronze necklaces and tucked it into these DIY boyfriend jeans.

TIP!!!! Try tucking in a section of your shirt into your bottoms, it can completely enhance your outfit and give it a (surprisingly) completely different look

Here I go with the earthy tones… Instead of typical jean shorts, I opted for burgundy ones. Don’t be afraid to put different colors or even patterns, you may surprise yourself and love how it looks! I threw this creme cardigan over it and added bronze and black necklaces (which matched my shoes) and really added a special little touch to the outfit.

The jean skirt. It’s making a comeback. We all remember those Abercrombie and Fitch ones that we look back and completely regret ever wearing… But you can hit this trend right on the head by finding one with a different silhouette. This one, in particular, screams hippie; and I kept with that style by pairing it with a neutral, cropped, billowy-sleeved top. (and bare feet hehe)

This outfit is much more suited for fall weather than the others. But I thought that it would be good to incorporate into this post because of my town’s confused weather and the fact that for a lot of you, it is already a lot colder. Layers are the most important thing when dressing for the fall – and part of the reason why I’m looking forward to it. I scored this awesome jean jacket at a thrift store (YES IT WAS ONLY $5??!!!!!) and layered it over a lace kimono and simple black tank top. I threw on a pair of high-waisted olive green pants and paired em with these awesome cut-out booties. WA-LA!!! The perfect “going into fall” ensemble

school in style

To me, dressing for school is the only thing that keeps me from going insane over the course of the year. It’s all about being cute, comfortable, and covered up as much as you can even though it may be a scorching 100 degrees outside when you first go back. I hate wearing lazy clothes to school because the better I look, the better I feel- running shorts and a big t-shirt make me just want to curl up and fall asleep… something I probably shouldn’t be doing in the middle of class, despite how much I may want to. Every week, I’ll be posting a few outfits from that week, so keep your eye out for more constant posts 🙂 PLUS!!! I’m going to be starting an Etsy to sell clothes and jewelry that I make and repurpose! I will upload that link as soon as it happens, thanks you all for your constant support!

The biggest problem I come across when I’m dressing for school is finding something to wear over my summer tank tops that won’t make me have a heat stroke… This suede cardigan/jacket/shall type garment was a gift sent from heaven. AND ONLY $10!!! It adds so much more character to an outfit. I always feel so lucky when I find cool pieces like this amongst cluttered clearance racks in Forever 21. I added some necklaces, sandals, and high-waisted shorts to add to the boho feel of this outfit!

fourth of july in style

For my American readers, we all know that a special day is coming up…… THE FOURTH OF JULY!!! A day full of patriotism, fun, and fireworks is upon us and I can truly say that I love the country that I am from. My love for it has grown even stronger, finally love is love from sea to shining sea. We are the land of the free and the home of the brave, I have put together some outfits that help capture the essence of just that.DSC01014

Thousands of girls across the country will probably be in crop tops and high-waisted shorts with a red flannel tied around their waists – I thought I’d be a tiny bit different… This tee has some converse with stars and stripes and I, of course, had to bring out my Trues (for the stitching of the American flag DUH).
