urban girl: handcrafted top

This is a slightly more “urban” and colorful look than I’m usually sporting but I am OBSESSED with it. I basically lived in this hat from Urban all summer along with my favorite lil purse from Forever 21. I made this top a super long time ago and found it again when I cleaned my closet, so of course I had to feature it in a post! You can easily put a more boho flair on this shirt (maybe I’ll do a post on little tweaks to change up the style around the same article of clothing?? Anybody interested??). And I always love me a nice off the shoulder look and “holy” jean.

sunny in san francisco

I’ve had a foreign exchange student from Germany for the past year, Felicia, and her family arrived last week to tour California before they all go back home ūüė¶ But, on the upside, we all get to go on a bunch of road¬†trips together! A few days ago, we hit the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and yesterday, we roamed around the beautiful streets of San Fransisco. We took them to do all¬†the touristy things like walk on the Golden Gate Bridge, shop around Union Square, and see China Town and Little Italy! It was a tad windy near the water, but such an amazing and sunny day.

It’s usually a little too cold to get away with jean shorts when I visit SF, but with a sweater and my trusty jean jacket, I was just fine yesterday! I tend to want to dress a lil more urban in the city, but I still like remaining true to my style. I mixed my more laid-back boho pieces (the fringe sweater and DIYed shorts) and topped them with white, clean accessories (my favorite purse, snake patterned flats, and¬†my SUPER COOL¬†sunnies). To play on this combination of styles, I paired some modern silver rings with my vintage-looking ones. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE RINGS. I feel naked without them. I also wanted to exercise the jean on jean trend, and I¬†think these washes go splendidly with¬†one another.

summertime fine

Summertime is here! Which means endless freedom, sundresses, and sandals… three of the very best things. Urban Outfitters had a 30% off all dresses sale a couple of weeks ago, so of course I had to take advantage of it and got this cute lil off the shoulder piece. When throwing on a dress, it’s all about the accessories to make an outfit more interesting! I opted for my lace up sandals (a style I’m totally obsessed with and NEED¬†to get more of), a necklace I made, a bunch of random bronze rings and a bracelet, and my favorite white purse! I threw up the top section of my hair into a messy, little ponytail and was good to go.

that 70’s show

My momma always told me that trends¬†from the past would¬†come back… ¬†I brought elements from the 70’s,¬†and even a little bit from the 90’s/early 2000’s (refer to the turtle neck and mom jeans) into this ensemble.

Every girl needs a pair of great jeans to throw on that are an instant confidence-booster and make her feel like she can take on the world. And these are mine. They¬†look so chic but laid-back all at once… plus, they¬†have THE BEST FIT. Probably the most comfortable pair of jeans I own.

I decided to play up the¬†hippy look by throwing on a bunch of layered necklaces and this stunning suede motorcycle jacket. And can’t forget these heeled booties to make my legs look a million miles longer than they really are! Hope you all enjoy this lil outfit of the day:)

rodeo drive

My family and I spent our last day in Los Angeles (window) shopping around Rodeo Drive. I loved seeing all of the beautiful designs that lined the racks of Dolce and Gabbana and Chanel… It was a completely different scenery from the one that I’m used to; it was SO fascinating and inspiring. We found our niche in the sale room of Lucky Brand; I ended up buying¬†three pairs of jeans for a total of around $60 and a bunch of men’s graphic tees for only $10 each!!! Yep, you did NOT read that wrong…. Lucky Brand jeans for THAT¬†cheap. (Maybe I’ll film a SoCal haul soon???)¬†Needless to say, we spent a few hours rummaging through the shelves of discounted jeans. The rest of our¬†time was spent admiring the designer store fronts and luxurious cars that filled the streets. I decided to throw together this¬†sophisticated looking ensemble, something that looks expensive but it was actually VERYYY inexpensive. Check out the details below ūüôā

hip in huntington

Another day down south, and another blog post as promised ūüôā We got a pretty late start, so we had to scrap our plans for the day and save them for another time ūüė¶ As we were driving around Anaheim, we decided to be spontaneous and head west to Huntington Beach. Good thing that I packed a swimsuit and was (sorta) dressed for the beach! This post is filled with photos¬†from today, I couldn’t help but take A TON of pictures with this stunning beach as my background.

OOTW: fall’s in the air

I have some photos of outfits of the week to share with you all today! I had so much fun shooting these and hope you all enjoy them as well ūüôā The weather has been crazy here!!! It hit 108 last week and when I took these pictures, it began raining! Slowly but surely, it’s transitioning to fall- and my outfits must do the same. Lately, I’ve been living in neutral colors like the light pink below, olive green, burgundy, white, creme, and black, browns, and burnt oranges… not to mention my beloved jean pieces. I’ve also been super into necklaces. I wear them with almost every one of my outfits- as you can probably tell from the following…

This outfit is super comfy and laid-back (like this armchair), yet you still look extremely put together (unlike this armchair). The color of the top is so feminine- and so much more sophisticated than a shocking pink color. I weighed down the loose, unstructured shirt with two bronze necklaces and tucked it into these DIY boyfriend jeans.

TIP!!!! Try tucking in a section of your shirt into your bottoms, it can completely enhance your outfit and give it a (surprisingly) completely different look

Here I go with the earthy tones… Instead of typical jean shorts, I opted for burgundy ones. Don’t be afraid to put different colors or even patterns, you may surprise yourself and love how it looks! I threw this creme cardigan¬†over it and added bronze and black necklaces (which matched my shoes) and really added a special little touch to the outfit.

The jean skirt. It’s making a comeback. We all remember those Abercrombie and Fitch ones that we look back and completely regret ever wearing… But you can hit this trend right on the head by finding one¬†with a different silhouette. This one, in particular, screams hippie; and I kept with that style by pairing it with a neutral, cropped, billowy-sleeved top. (and bare feet hehe)

This outfit is much more suited for fall weather than the others. But I thought that it would be good to incorporate into this post because of my town’s confused weather and the fact that for a lot of you, it is already a lot colder. Layers are the most important thing when dressing for the fall – and part of the reason why I’m looking forward to it. I scored this awesome jean jacket at a thrift store (YES IT WAS ONLY $5??!!!!!) and layered it over a lace kimono and simple black tank top. I threw on a pair of high-waisted olive green pants and paired em with these awesome cut-out booties. WA-LA!!! The perfect “going into fall” ensemble

school in style

To me, dressing for school is the only thing that keeps me from going insane over the course of the year. It’s all about being cute, comfortable, and covered up as much as you can even though it may be a scorching 100 degrees outside when you first go back. I hate wearing lazy clothes to school because the better I look, the better I feel- running shorts and a big t-shirt make me just want to curl up and fall asleep… something I probably shouldn’t be doing in the middle of class, despite how much I may want to. Every week, I’ll be posting a few outfits from that week, so keep your eye out for more constant posts ūüôā PLUS!!! I’m going to be starting an Etsy to sell clothes and jewelry that I make and repurpose! I will upload that link as soon as it happens, thanks you all for your constant support!

The biggest problem I come across when I’m dressing for school is finding something to wear over my summer tank tops that won’t make me have a heat stroke… This suede cardigan/jacket/shall type garment¬†was a gift sent from heaven. AND ONLY $10!!! It adds so much more character to an outfit. I always feel so lucky when I find cool pieces like this amongst cluttered clearance racks in Forever 21. I added some necklaces, sandals, and high-waisted shorts to add to the boho feel of this outfit!

fourth of july in style

For my American readers, we all know that a special day is¬†coming up…… THE FOURTH OF JULY!!! A day full of patriotism, fun, and fireworks is upon¬†us and I can truly say that I love the country that I¬†am from.¬†My love for it has grown even stronger, finally love is love from sea to shining sea. We are the land of the free and the home of the brave, I have put together some outfits that help capture the essence¬†of just that.DSC01014

Thousands of girls across the country will probably be in crop tops and high-waisted shorts with a red flannel tied around their waists – I thought I’d be a tiny bit different… This tee has some converse with stars and stripes and I, of course, had to bring out my Trues (for the stitching of the American flag DUH).

sweet summer time

Summer is with no doubt my favorite time of the year. I always feel so free, like there’s endless possibilities for my day. And even though I know it’s not true, it seems as if it’s infinite – that these long exhilarating summer days will last forever. I also feel as if you can play with your style; experimenting with new trends and especially in this season, creating your own clothing. Summer makes me feel a freedom and happiness that doesn’t typically¬†come along with the colder months and that is why it is oh so sweet.

DSC00577 DSC00580 DSC00581 DSC00592DSC00598 DSC00593 DSC00603

I love this look so much. It’s based off such a simple look, high-waisted shorts and a plain tank, but you can add your own flair with an assortment of jewelry. Adding texture (this crocheted kimono) and patterns (these upholstered boots), transforms an everyday boring look into something so much cuter and personalized.

Ahhhhhhhh omg why is she wearing white on white?!?!? This look is so refreshing and summery. Sometimes all white can be a bit overwhelming but with the lil show of my stomach and the big silver buttons on these super cute shorts, it breaks up the monochromatic look.
